Nick and Norah's Infinate Playlist

Author: Rachel Cohn and David Levithan
Year Published:2008 (re-publish date)
Catagory: Fiction
Number Of Pages: 208
ISBN# 037584614
US Price: $ 7.99

Nick and Norah's Infinate Play list is the story of two people who didn't directly know each other but end up running around NYC for a night together. Nick is the straight bass player in a gay band , who changes their name annually. Norah is a rich prep school girl, who wants to get from her fathers shadow, as well has her often drunk, and prettier, best friend Caroline. Nick isn't quite over her ex-girlfriend Trish and Norah isn't over her ex-ex-ex Tal. Its a funny and believeable story of new love, old love, and growing up.

On the Bookworm scale I give this top honers as well as the movie.

Movie Review.....

The movie and story differ quite a bit but the just of it is still the same. I do perfer the movies flow and the fact that the movies give them reasons to still be in NYC for the night (Looking for Where's Fluffy and the Caroline, The Fluffy again). Movie is a must see. Can currently be seen on DVD and Starz.

The Vixen Diaries

Author : Karrine Steffans
Year Published : 2007
Category : Biography
Number Of Pages: 182
ISBN # : 0446582263
US Price : $24.99

“Superhead” is back again with another memoir of the trails and tribulations of her life. This time focusing on the aftermath of her first book, Confessions of a Video Vixen, as well as the ending of her relationship with Bill Mahar.

Much like her first book, Karrine names several of her celebrity friends and how they are apart of her life. Ray J, Bobby Brown, Jamie Foxx and Mike Tyson are a few among the many named.
Karrine spends much of the books talking about how she has changed for the better through several; situations, however, there are only some many times people can go through a life changing situation, after a first , say couple of times, it gets old. This book is almost like the same chapter over and over again as she mentions the same people, and sometimes events, and constantly her first book, Confessions, every single chapter.

I would normally suggest some way in which this book would have been improved, but I see none. It would have been better not to have written another book at all.

On the Bookworm Scale I give this book a 1, as a painful read, however if you want to hear about Bobby Brown’s post Whitney life, then give it a read.

The Real Real

Author : Emma McKaughlin and Nicola Kraus
Year Published : 2009
Category : Fiction
Number Of Pages: 310
ISBN # : 9780061720406
US Price : $16.99

Main character Jesse O’Rourke pulled me into her story right away. A not-so-noticed, run of the mill girl who treasures relationship with her best friend, Caitlyn, and her parents, who work less than glamorous jobs. Her dad manages a two star restaurant and her mom cleans the wealthy Hampton’s homes. Her life is plain , including working at Starbucks clone, Prickly Pair, where she’s never seen the bottom of the muffin batter tub in the years she’s work there.

Everything is normal until XTV decides her school would be perfect for a new “reality” TV show, which ends up being anything but. Between only being about to eat sponsor products, and not being able to wear anything that isn’t designer, Jesse feels in over her head and wants to quit. She would if it wasn’t for the $40,000 scholarship she needs to go to Georgetown.

The story keeps you interested in everything going on and wondering how this can all be right. I think readers will be highly surprised at the end result, as well as how Jesse comes into her own. In a world when reality TV is seemingly unavoidable, this book give you a inside view and gets you wondering if your favorite shows are the same way.

On the Bookworm scale, I give this book a 4. Sit back and enjoy.

Welcome to As Told By A Bookworm

Welcome to my blog. I've tried my hand at writing alot of blogs but this time I think it fits. I am a self proclaimed bookworm. I love to read....EVERYTHING. I can almost always find a good book (or bad book) and this blog will be all about book and maybe movies if I feel so moved. I promise to have a none biased opinion on the books I review and update you on books I'm waiting to come out. Always read what YOU want to read, not what someone else says you should read. I've read alot of amazing books that people caned. I love books by little known writers. I will rate my books on the "worm scale" 1 (and sometimes 0) being horrible and 5 being amazing and a must read. Sit back relax and enjoy the ride.
